911 Call Reports Fire At Dispatcher Home

A 911 call reports a fire at a local dispatcher from Massachusetts home.

The dispatcher apparently shares the apartment with his parents and couldn't believe it was happening to his family. This seems to be a very ironic but unfunny situation.

Russell Crowe Bike Duel?

(AP)An Australian newspaper mocked Russell Crowe for smoking and shoveling down a fatty meal during a recent bike ride, so the notoriously salty actor set out to prove he is still in gladiator shape — by challenging the paper's gossip columnist to a duel by bicycle.

Crowe, who has been photographed looking slimmer in recent months, was apparently none too pleased by a column published in Sydney's The Daily Telegraph on Tuesday entitled "Smokes and fatty foods the fitness regime for Rusty." The paper mocked Crowe after he was photographed pausing during a recent bike ride with his personal trainer to puff on a cigarette and chow down on three tacos and a soft drink.

In a story published Friday, the paper said Crowe's spokesman called up gossip columnist Annette Sharp the next day and said, "Get on your bike. Russell wants you to go riding with him. Are you ready to die?"

Sharp accepted the challenge and the pair met a dawn for a 12-mile (20-kilometer) ride through the city. Video of the race shows Sharp struggling to keep up while Crowe zooms along unfazed. At one point, Sharp fell off her bike.

Still, Crowe gave Sharp some credit, telling her she was a better biker than Australian director Baz Luhrmann. "You're twice the man Baz is," he said.

Crowe's manager Grant Vandenberg had no comment. "I think everything's been said in the paper," he said.

Oregon Football Player Blount Suspended for Rest of Season

Oregon Football Player LeGarrette Blount has been suspended for the rest of the season after sucker punching a Boise State Player.

The punch came at the end of the game after Oregon lost to Boise State 19-8. Running back Blount was in a sore mood and when DE Byron Hout of Boise tapped him on the shoulder and taunted him - he snapped. He punched him across the jaw, then he shoved his teammate in the face, then he went after Boise fans to cap it all off.

Most fans of college football expected a one game suspension, but Oregon set a good example by making him sit out his senior year as a consequence. It will likely cost him in the NFL draft as well, he was likely a 2nd or 3rd round pick, but now scouts are saying he may be undraftable or a late pick in the 6th or 7th round.

What a way to kick off college football! Really made the sport look bad, when the focus for this year was supposed to be sportsmanship! Here's hoping nobody else makes the same mistake this season.
