Tyler Perry Treats Philly Kids to Disney World
Tyler Perry had it rough growing up, so he has decided to give back to kids and the community.
Tyler Perry, the star, writer and producer of films such as "Madea Goes to Jail" and the television show "House of Payne," could be adding philanthropist to his growing list of credits.
According to his publicist, Perry is sponsoring a Disney World trip for 65 Pennsylvania children at a largely minority day-care center after a group of African-American and Hispanic children were turned away from a suburban Philadelphia swim club.
Now they have a much more exciting field trip to look forward to.
The controversy between Valley Swim Club and Creative Steps Day Camp received national media attention and camp director Alethea Wright says it caught the eye of Perry:
"He has offered to take the children to Disney World, and their parents, give them a day at the park, give them a day at the water park and to include air fare as well."
Perry, a once homeless comedian, is now the 15th highest paid man in Hollywood, according to Forbes magazine.
